9 Years

Tomorrow is Joshua and my nine year anniversary.

It has been 9 years, since 15 year old Josh pulled me aside at the end of our high school day and asked if I would officially be his girlfriend. His friends, Jason and Kevin went through all the stops, taking my best friend at the time, Kailey, on a walk through the school to distract her so we could have a few moments alone. It was a perfectly, awkward teenager dating scenario that plays on repeat in my head on October 29th.

We then ended up in the same exact spot, one year later when Josh gave me a promise ring as a symbol of our future together.

Josh and I have been through so much in our 9 years of being in each other’s lives. We have gone through hell and back, with several break-ups and reunions which gave us new outlooks on life along the way. I have never been loved so unconditionally in my entire life. Josh has been by my side through everything, even through times when we weren’t together. He has remained my best friend, even through times when I wanted to shake some sense into him. I know I am a handful- always, but Josh handles my craziness with patience.

On this anniversary, we are able to celebrate the accomplishment of becoming foster parents and pushing through during a very difficult year. I know in my heart that I would not be where I am today without having Josh in my life. There are so many things that we have accomplished as a couple, that I know I couldn’t have done without him. As cliche as it sounds, he is literally my rock. The first person I call when I have a problem, even if he doesn’t answer his phone 98% of the time.

Have I also mentioned how amazing he is at the Dad thing? He is hands down, one of the best Fathers I know! Estelle adores her ‘Dada’. He plays and wrestles, goes on outside nature walks takes her to music class all on his own accord. He is compassionate and encouraging, towards both of the girls in all of their endeavors. He takes great care of our family, all day and everyday!

There isn’t a doubt in my mind when I say that Joshua Patrick Kennedy is my soul mate. He is everything that I am not and more, the ying to my yang. The universe did something right when it brought us together and I look forward to the next 9+ years together, living all of our dreams.

So thank you, Joshua Kennedy for changing my life and therefore making it better. I love you dear! Happy 9th.
